Samba Police foils bovine smuggling bid

JAMMU, Jan 2: In its continuous drive against bovine smuggling, Police Party headed by Inspector Rakesh Sharma, SHO P/S Ghagwal under the supervision of Varinder Singh, Dy SP HQ Samba, foiled a bovine smuggling bid by intercepted a vehicle (TATA Canter) bearing Registration No. HP38C/7349 carrying 15 bovine animals which were being illegally transported without permission towards Punjab.
On seeing the Police Naka at Ghagwal, the driver of the said vehicle fled away leaving the vehicle on spot much before the Police Naka. The vehicle was seized by police and Case FIR No. 01/2016 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act was registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation carried on. Efforts are being made to nab the absconding accused driver.
