JAMMU, Jan 2: Lalded Women Welfare Society staged Dogri nukkad ‘Lakhari’ in its Saturday series at Kunjwani in outskirts of Jammu.
The play is conceived and written by prominent social activist Rampaul Dogra and directed by Naveen Pal.
‘Lakhari’ is the story of a very passionate writer namely Baigana, who lives the life in his own way without bothering for any liability at home. His family faces difficulties but he keeps himself busy in writing poems and stories.
In the beginning, Baigana participates in each and every mushaira program. He is appreciated by everyone including his friends for his poems. Meanwhile, he loses ground at home because his family members dislike his old fashioned style of living.
His wife rebukes him all the time and asks him to shun this culture alleging that it does not support their children at all. Lakhari does not compromise his mission and stays firm on his stand to promote his rich mother tongue –Dogri through his poetry.
A time comes when his book gets National award and a cash prize of Rupees five lakh. So with the changed scenario, all his family gets convinced and friends circle too but whole of this journey is painful with no certain income, which discourages them.
