Samba police arrests 2 notorious drug peddlers under PITNDPS Act

SAMBA, May 20: Taking stringent action against notorious drug peddlers/ smugglers involved in illicit narcotics trade, Samba police has booked two notorious drug peddler under the provisions of “Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances” (PITNDPS) Act for their continuous involvement in spreading drug menace in the area and lodged them in Central Jail Kotbhalwal, Jammu and District Jail Bhaderwah respectively.
Police said the notorious drug peddlers detained under PITNDPS Act have been identified as Narayan Sharma @Shunna, son of Brita Lal Sharma of Ward No. 01 Vijaypur tehsil Vijaypur district Samba and Abhishek Attri, son of Dayal Parshad of Ward Number 11, Samba, tehsil and district Samba.
Police said Narayan Sharma has been involved in multiple cases registered under NDPS Act at Police Station (PS) Ramgarh of district Samba and Police Station (PS) R.S. Pura of district Jammu for his continuous illegal activities of drug peddling.
The accused is a criminal and also a member of the infamous Shallu Gang. He is a habitual drug peddler and poses a serious threat to the health and welfare of the people especially the youth of the area, police said.
In view of repeated indulgence of Narayan Sharma @Shunna and Abhishek Attri in illicit drug trafficking, SSP Samba prepared and submitted dossiers and connected documents to the office of the Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
They have been lodged in Central Jail Kotbhalwal, Jammu and District Jail Bhaderwah respectively after obtaining a formal detention orders from the Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
Police said Abhishek Attri has been involved in multiple cases registered under the NDPS Act at Police Station Samba for his continuous involvement in illegal drug trafficking activities in the area. Being a habitual offender, he posed a serious threat to public health and welfare, particularly to the youth, police said.
