VIJAYPUR, Oct 29: Accusing District Administration of violating Model Code of Conduct in Vijaypur constituency, former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh today appealed Chief Election Commissioner of J&K to make enquiry into alleged misuse of money meant for flood affected people being used to take up ‘unapproved’ works on the directions of a local MLA of Vijaypur constituency.
“The CEO of J&K should personally look into the issue and enquiry as to why the funds being allegedly misused,” Manjit Singh said, while speaking to the party workers and locals in Vijaypur constituency.
Singh said that the district administration has been working on the directions of the local MLA and has ignored flood affected and deserving people.
“The works are taken up in those areas which were not affected due to floods. The flood affected people were facing negligence and official apathy in view of influence being used by the local MLA keeping in view political consideration,” he said.
He further said the RDD and PWD have been violating Model Code of Conduct to benefit the NC MLA.
“The works taken up three years back being shown in SDRF to befool people and the Elections Commission and helping the influential leader of the constituency,” he alleged. Instead of working for the flood affected people for whom the funds were released, he said, the administration is dancing to the tune of the local MLA which needs to be checked by the ECI and accordingly, action be taken.
