KATHUA, June 27: A meeting of J&K Teachers Forum was held here today under the chairmanship of provincial secretary Parveen Singh to discuss the issue of salary grants under RMSA and SSA schemes.
Addressing the teachers, Parveen Singh criticized the Education Department authorities for not releasing the salary grants of teachers working under RMSA & SSA. He sought the personal intervention of Chief Minister in this regard and save the teachers from starvation as no salary has been released in their favour for the last eight months in SSA and three months in RMSA.
He threatened that if the salary grant is not released, teachers will go on indefinite strike for which Education Department would be responsible.
Addressing the teachers, Amar Nath Thakur said that a memorandum in this regard was submitted to Chief Secretary last month but no action has been taken to release the salary of teachers. He requested all teachers to prepare themselves for strike if salary is not released at the earliest.
