SRINAGAR, Oct 1: Minister for Science & Technology and Animal Husbandry, Sajjad Gani Lone, called on Governor N.N. Vohra here at the Raj Bhavan today.
In discussions which extended to two hours Mr. Lone briefed the Governor about the efforts made by him in the past few months to explore the best options available, within and outside India, to speed up the growth and development of the dairy, poultry, fisheries and sheep husbandry sectors for significantly improving the existing levels of productivity and overall production in the State.
The Governor complimented Mr. Lone for the excellent work done to bench mark the existing state of affairs in the dairy, poultry, fisheries and sheep husbandry sectors and for drawing up an integrated techno-economic plan for the modernization of these four sectors. The Governor noted that if Mr. Lone’s projected plans get timely implemented, the State would save Rs. 3500 crore annually which is spent in importing milk, meats and poultry every year.
The Governor urged Mr. Lone to speedily move forward and offered him all required support in securing decisions from the Government of India, as may be required.
