JAMMU, Apr 11: Social Welfare Minister and People’s Conference leader, Sajjad Ghani Lone, a pre-poll ally of the BJP, abstained from maiden Cabinet meeting of PDP-BJP coalition Government, chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti here this afternoon.
“Lone didn’t turn up for the Cabinet meeting,” official sources said.
He hadn’t taken over charge of the new Ministry even after a week of swearing-in as he was upset with assigning of low key portfolio. He had already submitted his resignation to BJP high command as he was the Cabinet Minister from the BJP quota.
Lone had in March 2015 also voiced resentment on being allocated the charge of Animal and Sheep Husbandry Departments but later agreed to take charge of the Ministry. Now again, he is upset with the portfolio and has apprised the BJP about his reservations on being deprived of an important portfolio despite being pre-poll ally of the party.
