Saints, Spiritual leaders can play important role in making India prosper and modern: PM

GORAKHPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that saints, spiritual leaders can play an important role in making India prosper and modern though admitting that several of them were already contributing to it.
“Our saints and seers are very noble and have always been compassionate towards society and the poor .I have also come to know about saints who contributed in campaign to build toilets, encourage their followers to do that,”he said after worshipping at the Gorakshnath temple and thereafter unveiling the statue of Mahant Avaidhnath.
Addressing the saints sammelan here at the Gorakshnath temple, Mr Modi said this land is very special. “Be it Gautam Budhha, Mahavir or Kabir, they all have had an unbreakable bond with this land in some way or other,” he claimed. It’s my privilege that I had the opportunity to unveil the statue of Avaidyanathji who is inspiration to all- one’s who have had the opportunity to serve this land have always given their best.Mahant Avaidyanath ji’s contribution to this is immense,” he futher said.
Narrating in detail about the greatness of Mahant Avaidnath he said that Mahant had contributed in the independence movement and thereafter plunged into the work to serve the poor and the society. Similarly other saints of the country are also doing the same.
” It was Mahantjee who started the tradition of feeding all the poor who came to Gorakshnath temple with prasad and severed the society with contributing in their education system. Now it is Yogi Adityanth who is continuing this tradition,” he said .
PM also disclosed that he was in touch with Mahant even before he entered politics. Earlier, Mr Modi prayed at Gorakshnath temple here just after reaching the city along with UP governor Ram Naik and Union Chemical and Fertilizer minister Anant Kumar.
Yogi Aditynath was present to recite the mantras. Later he unveiled the statue of Mahant Avaidyanath in Gorakshnath temple in presence of renowned saints including Nritya Gopal Das, Swami Harinagaryn, swami Chinamayanand and several others.PM also released a book on the life of Mahant Avaidnath.
The guests were welcomed by presenting a shawl by Yogi Adityanath, who in his welcome address praised the PM to upkeep the old tradition of the country. “It was Mr Modi who gave Yoga an universal identification as now over 152 countries observe International Yoga day,” he said. Yogi also appreciated the works being done by Governor Ram Naik, particularly in the field of education. Later PM left from The fertilizer ground to lay the foundation stone for AIIMS and revival of the Fertilizer unit. Mr Modi would also address a public rally thereafter before leaving for New Delhi.
