JAMMU, Feb 2: Opposing the ongoing anti-encroachment drive of J&K Administration which has rendered many poor homeless, the Shiv Sena J&K unit led by its chief Manish Sahni today submitted a memorandum of demands to Additional District Deputy Commissioner (ADDC) Jammu Harvinder Singh.
Led by Manish Sahni, a team of Shiv Sena leaders reached Bathindi today to support the local residents’ ongoing agitation against eviction drive of J&K Government. Sahni said the Government should immediately enact a strong land policy, provide relief and rehabilitate the sufferers of the ongoing eviction drive.
Manish Sahni said that for the last few years, the rights of the local people of Jammu and Kashmir are being continuously violated. “The homes of the poor and common people who are suffering from unemployment, inflation and economic recession are being demolished and they are being forced to live on roads and footpaths,” he said.
Sahni added that the Lieutenant Governor’s assurance of action on big fish and relief to the poor people is also proving to be a ‘Jumle’ game. He said if the Lt Governor is really serious about providing relief to the poor and common people, he should issue instructions to regularize the colonies by enacting a land law.
President of Women’s Wing Meenakshi Chhibber, general secretary Vikas Bakshi, chairman Rakesh Gupta, president Workers’ Wing Raj Singh, Geeta Lakhotra, Shashipal, Mangu Ram and Sunny Dimple were also present along with the Manish Sahni.
