JAMMU, Oct 19: A one-day symposium on the topic ‘Dogri Ch Chhand Mukt Kavita Di Svakriti Te Sthiti’ was organized today at KL Saigal Hall by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
The inaugural session was chaired by Prof Champa Sharma, a renowned Dogri author, researcher and founder HoD of Dogri Department at University of Jammu. In her presidential address, Prof Champa gave out a detailed history of ‘Chhand Mukt Kavita in Dogri’ and its acceptance by the Dogri masses.
Earlier, Darshan Darshi, convener, Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, delivered introductory lecture on the subject. He came out with a very vivid explanation about Blank Verse and Free verse and its use in Dogri poetry.
Noted Dogri litterateur, Mohan Singh, delivered the key note address in the inaugural session. This was followed by two sessions of paper reading wherein Prof Sushma Sharma and Prof Shashi Pathania were in chair. Papers were read by Dr Bansi Lal Sharma and Dr Sandeep Sufi in the first session. Second session paper readers were Dr Rattan Basotra and Rajinder Ranjna.
Topics of the first session papers were ‘Dogri Chhand Mukt Kavita Da Rambh, Sabkriti Te Stithi’ and Dogri Chhand Kavita De Vishey, Sabkriti Te Stithi. In the second session, the papers discussed were ‘Samkaleen Hindi Chhand Mukt Kavita Da Dogri Chhand Mukt Kavita Par Parbhab’ and ‘21st Century Chhand Mukt Kavita in Dogri’.
A literary discussion and a question-answer session were also organized on the occasion.
In the second leg of the programme, Sudesh Raj, a well known and popular short story writer, read her select stories. She also gave the audience a peep into her literary journey. The session was followed by question-answer session.
The programme was attended by a large and impressive gathering of Dogri writers, Dogri scholars, Dogri lovers and writers of many other languages.
