JAMMU, Mar 28: Two immensely popular programs of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi ‘Through My Window ‘ and ‘Aavishkaar’ were held today in K L Saigal Hall.
Prof Veena Gupta, a renowned scholar of Dogri and former Head of Dogri Departmen, Jammu University, spoke on the life and works of another veteran and path breaker Dogri writer Late Col Shivnath in the program ‘Through My Window’. Prof Veena Gupta gave some very insightful description of certain interesting aspects of Col Shivnath, a brilliant academician and first person to qualify the IAS examination from the State, who unfortunately became a victim of the State politics of that time and instead, had to join Indian Postal Services, where he rose to the highest level. Prof Veena Gupta said that the corpus of his literary works, which include essays, poetry, translations and literary criticism, is invaluable for Dogri and is of high academic standard.
The second programme, ‘Aavishkaar’ featured well known and young singers of Jammu-Kunal Sharma, Rabjot Singh, Satbir Singh and Sham Sajan singing the beautiful poetic creations of legendary Dogri poet Kehiri Singh Madhukar. The musical presentation had a magical touch of the master music composer Sham Sajan. The poems rendered represented the wide spectrum of the poetic genius of the poet. The singers did justice to the poetry by their soulful and melodious singing.
Both the programs were enjoyed and appreciated by a packed hall and audience included writers, scholars and music lovers.
The ‘Aavishkaar’ program was anchored by Ravinder Kaul.
Earlier, while welcoming audience and participants, Prof Lalit Magotra, Convener, Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, stressed the importance and explained the format of the programs.
