Sahai appeals all to cooperate as JMC starts sanitation in Transport Nagar

JAMMU, Nov 6: As Jammu Municipal Corporation has started sanitation service in the Transport Nagar for the first time, Chairman of Transport Nagar Association Rahul Sahai today appealed all the shopkeepers and others to cooperate with JMC.
He also assured that the sanitation service will soon cover the entire area of Transport Nagar in a phased manner.
“The sanitation service , which is starting from Yard 6 and 7 will soon cover the entire Transport Nagar and in this regard, we have already submitted a detailed plan covering all the establishments, godowns, logistics, etc,” he said, while addressing a press conference along with Dr Sanjogita Soodan, Health Officer, Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Sahai said that the sanitation service in Transport Nagar has been started after a series of meetings with Commissioner JMC and Vice-Chairman Jammu Development Authority (JDA). “After these meeting, Commissioner Avni Lavasa directed JMC Health Officer to start sanitation service in the area, which included cleaning of drains besides door to door lifting of garbage,” he said.
Informing that Rs 200 per shop would be charged by the JMC for door to door collection of garbage, Rahul Sahai appealed the Transport Nagar shopkeepers to cooperate with the JMC authorities.
On the occasion, the JMC Health Officer elaborated on the further sanitation plan for the Transport Nagar, including places of putting up permanent dust bins, distribution of free bins, lifting of garbage, auto service for door to door collection of garbage, registering Reharis, dealing with encroachment etc and construction of two Sulabh Shochalayas in each yard.
