SRINAGAR, July 10: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference general secretary Ali Mohd Sagar today asked the NC Block functionaries from Khanyar to gear up their activities and strengthen party at grass-roots level.
Addressing the functionaries at party office here today, Sagar said administrative inertia, development deficit and administration have become byword of Srinagar, saying there is no semblance of good governance in the capital city particularly the Shahar-e-Khas. The situation, he said is no different from other parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Contrarily to the much-flaunted assurances of developed and prosperity which was promised by GOI following the August 5 measures, the administration is not able to ensure adequate power and water supply to south Kashmir populace. Srinagar city, it seems has been rescinded from the development agenda of the government. Ensuring people basic facilities and maintain official accountability is not in the to-do-list of government vis-à-vis Srinagar. The airdropped bureaucracy on account of its failure to comport with the local populace has failed to redress the issues pestering the day to day lives of the people. The frequent, unscheduled power outages, and absence of drinking water has added to the woes of people. People don’t know which door to knock to have their issues redressed,” he said.
Expressing dismay over the distribution of substandard grains at various PDS Depots in Srinagar, Sagar said that he has been receiving complaints about the low inferior quality of rice being distributed to people at government ration depots. He demanded that in view of the forthcoming Eid Festivities extra quota of ration should be distributed among the PDS beneficiaries. The BPL, AAY, TPDS families are particularly at the receiving end due to the lackluster approach of administration,” he said.
Among others YNC president Salman Ali Sagar, party’s block president Khanyar Bashir Ahmed Halwai, block functionaries were also present in the meeting.
Later, prominent political workers who had crossed over to Apni Party rejoined National Conference in presence of district president Peer Afaq, Sabiya Qadri, Ahsan Pardesi who welcomed them hoping that they will work towards making party stronger at grass root level.
