This has reference to the news item ‘Relocate us to safer areas from borders’ DE Aug 7.
The Government must find a permanent solution to the problems faced by the people living on borders. Adhoc measures for their livelihood and safety have not worked properly in their favour. These people suffer time and again due to firing from across the border. What is more disgusting is the fact that they do not receive adequate compensation for the losses they incur during cross border firing. Those who receive injuries have to run from pillar to post to get compensation from the concerned authorities. During this period they are harassed and humiliated. No one tries to empathise for the pain they receive during this period.
It may be mentioned here that till the time the guns fall silent on border, these people need to be settled at place where they will feel safe and earn livelihood.
