JAMMU, Dec 2: Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today launched a “Safe and Nutritious Food at workplace’ campaign here at Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation here.
The campaign has been launched to help develop an overall ecosystem for safe and nutritious food in workplaces where people spend the most of their time and consume at least one meal in their workplace canteens.
FDA Commissioner, Shakeel-UL-Rehman was the chief guest and Dy General Manager JKTDC, Ashwani Gupta was Guest of Honor, Dy Comm. Food Safety Sanjeev Gupta was the Special Guest and function was presided over by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Asst. Commissioner, Food Safety, Jammu.
Over 100 stakeholders in the workplace ecosystem from JKTDC, Govt Women College Parade, Gandhi Nagar, NGOs Corporate executive chefs, food handlers, academic experts, nutritionists and senior officials from Government departments participated in the event..
A detailed presentation on “Basics of Food Hygiene Practices for Food Handlers”, was delivered by Satish Kumar, MD Mavis Technologies, New Delhi and NCC cadets demonstrated the basic techniques of hand washing and proper personal hygiene maintenance.
The FDA Commissioner appreciated the efforts of its team for conducting such a unique campaign of National Level in Jammu and also thanked various stakeholders who participated in the function.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Parvesh Kumar. The food safety team comprising Food Safety Officers, Ajay Khajuria, Daleep Singh, Zulfkar Ali and Romit provided the handful of information regarding the campaign to the food handlers.
