JAMMU, Aug 25: The Minister for Planning, Development and Labour & Employment, Ajay Sadhotra today conducted a whirlwind tour of Marh area to assess the damages caused to the private and public property in the backdrop of recent rains and flash floods.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu Kalyan Singh, Block Development Officer Marh Tasir Latifi and a team of officials from Revenue, Rural Development and other concerned departments, the Minister visited Tikri Rakwalan, Sarora, Ghoumanhsan, Tarn Chak, Lahouri Chak, Gajansoo, Galwaday Chak, Dhateryal and other villages of Marh. He interacted with the families whose structures were damaged due to incessant rains and flash floods and assured them that the Coalition Government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to provide adequate compensation to the affected families.
The Minister asked the team of officers to record full details of the damages suffered by each affected family so that their cases are processed for compensation. He assured the people of the area that the administration would extend every help to facilitate their rehabilitation as the Government has already sanctioned Rs 87 crore for restoration of damages to the public assets and to pay compensation to the affected families.
He said that the Coalition Government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has given first priority to restoration of services and repair of public assets, besides rehabilitation of the flood affected people.
He said that the Chief Minister would be himself monitoring the entire exercise to ensure that none of the affected areas are left out in the restoration process.
The Minister also informed that the Government will also hold a series of camps on different dates for cluster of Panchayats for the expeditious disposal of ex-gratia relief.
