JAMMU, Dec 24: Shiromani Akali Dal (B), J&K unit  has urged upon the State Government  to provide representation to the Sikh community in the Government and also establish a Minority Commission in the State.
In a meeting of several Sikh organisations held under the banner of SAD at Gurdwara Tali Sahib here, the members discussed the issues of the community. They expressed that Sikh members were facing neglect and they were feeling deprived of the due place. Sikh were getting due representation since independence but for the last some time no representation has been accorded to the Sikh community in the Govt.
The community has been denied justice. The Sikhs are microscopic minority in the State and the Government must set up Minority Commission  and bring the minorities under the purview of the Minority Act. They were demanding that Punjabi language be implemented in schools and colleges and language teachers be provided there.
The members further stressed upon the Government to provide one time comprehensive full package to the PoK refugees as also recommended by the JPC.
