Srinagar, Mar 10: In partnership with the Motor Vehicles Department, the South Asia Center for Peace and Peoples Empowerment (SACPPE) today hosted a one-day seminar on “Duties of a Good Citizen Toward Society” (MVD).
A sizable crowd, including owners and drivers of public transportation, auto dealers, operators of CSC and online Suvidha centres, and others, attended the ceremony.
Shabir Ahmad Lone, a Suvidha centre owner while speaking on the occasion said people in Kashmir witnessed death and destruction for three decades.
“India is a democratic country where its citizens live freely. Democracy in the country can function only when its citizens have both rights and responsibilities,” he said.
Addressing the occasion, Er Arif Parvaiz Shah of ARTO, Srinagar, praised the SACPPE for choosing to host the event on such a significant topic and emphasised that all citizens have a responsibility to uphold the country’s laws and order.
Umar Bhat, Vice-President of the SACPPE said a G20 event scheduled in Jammu and Kashmir later this year will give a massive boost to the economy of the region.
“Every citizen must make this event a grand success which in turn will benefit every section of the society,” he said.
Nisar Ahmad Ganie, representative of J&K Truck Drivers Association said each citizen has a responsibility to make his or her community a decent place to inhabit.
Javeed Ahmad Rather, a public transporter said that a responsible citizen has to abide by the law and order of the country.
