POONCH: Mar 10: A residential house was badly damaged while several cattle charred to death in a midnight fire incident at Baila village of Mandi area of Poonch district.
Official sources said that fire incident occurred apparently due to electric short circuit late last night after which locals residents, Police, BSF and 25 RR jawans joined hands to extinguish fire. There was no loss of human life but three buffaloes, two cows, above dozen hens were charred to death. Many house hold items were also burnt to ashes in the fire incident.
House owner, identified as Mohd Sharief, son of Wali Mohd said that loss of property may run into several lakhs. A report has been lodged with Mandi police in this connection, he said.
Tehsildar Poonch and Naib Tehsildar Mandi, Mohd Toiyab went to the spot, and handed over Rs 10,000 to the family from Red Cross Fund, as immediate assistance.
