SAC starts awareness campaign to attract complaints

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 12: After being temporarily deprived of its suo-moto jurisdiction in an appeal filed by Government before the Supreme Court, the State Accountability Commission (SAC) is now diverting its focus to create mass awareness about its functioning and jurisdiction in the hope of attracting complaints from the aggrieved people.
The Commission has launched awareness programme in collaboration with the Law School University of Jammu to start with under the guidance of its Member Justice (retd) J P Singh.
Under this, batches of students from different Law Schools of Jammu are apprised and trained in the basic features of the Commission’s functioning and thereafter deputed to various community centres/panchayats to apprise people about functioning and jurisdiction of the Accountability Commission.
So far four batches of law students have been interned by the Commission under the supervision of Justice (retd) J P Singh and deputed to various centres in rural areas of Jammu like Surinsar, Bishnah, Jandrah and Akhnoor for creating awareness about the functioning of the Commission. The programme will cover students from Law Colleges in due course.
