JAMMU, Mar 1: Shri Amarnath Barfani Langers Organization (SABLO) reiterated its demand to make holy Amarnath yatra of one month’s duration only instead of 59 days.
In its meeting held at Chandigarh the SABLO decided to put the demand before the chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).
During the meeting the members in one voice opposed SASB’s decision to run yatra for two months and demanded that it should be confined to one month only.
The meeting criticized the SASB’s decision to decrease the number of Bhandaras and said it will create difficulties for yatris and this way number of yatris taking place daily will fall further. Such a step is against the religious sentiments of the people, the meeting added.
The SABLO while criticizing the role of J&K Police demanded that the security of yatris be handed over to paramilitary forces who are well equipped to maintain law and order.
The SABLO demanded that the on line registration for yatris which was discontinued in 2013 be resumed immediately.
The meeting also accused the SASB of adopting divide and rule policy of Britishers. It accused the SASB of miserably failing to improve infrastructure and safety of pilgrims.
The SABLO also asked the SASB not to take unilateral decisions regarding yatra.
The meeting was attended by Vijay Thakur, president SABLO, Rajesh Gupta its general secretary, Amar Goyal finance secretary, Tirlok Oberoi, Davinder Uppal, Sneh Garg, Parveen Bindal and others.
