SAARC Summit: Leaders to push Pak agree on 3 stalled agreements

KATHMANDU : Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other SAARC leaders today will make an all out effort to persuade Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to sign three major agreements at Dhulikhel here.
The connectivity agreements on the three projects– an electricity grid and trade in electricity, and road and rail connectivity were stalled by Pakistan yesterday on the pretext that they have not completed their ‘internal processes’. Meanwhile, India has expressed disappointment over the entire issue.
Summit host Nepal is also looking forward to push Pakistan for signing the agreements.
Any SAARC agreement needs approval of all the member countries to be signed.
South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is an economic and geopolitical organisation of eight countries– Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. (AGENCIES)
