JAMMU, June 9: Reiterating resolve of the Government to equip far-off rural pockets of the State with all required modern infrastructure, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said that exemplary development initiatives have been taken to upgrade rural infrastructure and focused attention is being paid to core areas of health, road, power, water supply and education. He said the Government is leaving no stone unturned to take the development revolution to every nook and corner of the State.
“Pahari and Kandi areas need special attention and officers have to make frequent field visits to these areas for on spot assessment of the problems as well as time bound redressal of the issues,” he directed.
To take stock of the problems being faced by people and ensure on spot redressal, Tara Chand along with senior civil officers and engineers held a day long tour of the kandi and far-flung areas of Khour block.
During the tour series of public rallies and gatherings were held at Kharah, Upper Kalahan, Kalla, Kalakas, Barore, Nathal, Nathan and Seoni.
Underlining measures taken to ensure timely delivery of Government services, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the Government is committed to make administration more accountable and PSGA is a landmark initiative for the purpose, adding that time bound delivery of public services would go a long way in ensuring that administration is made people friendly and an accountable delivery mechanism is put in place.
He said Panchayati Raj Bodies have been empowered by the Government and functions of over 14 departments have been entrusted to them so as to involve people in planning as well as execution.
He said a mega pension camp would soon be held at Khour for the benefit of people living in the area and senior officers would be present in the camp for on spot registration of new cases besides ensuring clearance of pendency, adding that people at large should be made aware about the camp so that all those who are unable to make it to the office of the department can get their cases resolved on the spot.
The PDD authorities were directed to ensure metering in the area so that people pay as per consumption and power demand can be met by ensuring revenue collection.
While listening to problems projected by people at Kharah for construction of medical officer quarter, dental chair and potable water, Tara Chand passed immediate directions to the accompanying engineers for early redressal of the demands.
Responding to the demand of a veterinary hospital for the area, the Deputy Chief Minister said that mobile veterinary centre would be made functional in the area which would cater to the requirement of specialized care for animals.
