Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘Agribusiness Centres’ DE Nov 10.
The issue raised by the authors regarding rural job opportunities is quite important in view of rising unemployment in the rural areas. One does not know the reason why Governments do not lay much thrust on exploring employment opportunities in this sector. As elaborated in the article, many youth can set up their own enterprises provided they are given technical advice and financial help.
Besides agri-economy is not subject to much market fluctuation as is witnessed in industrial sector.
But, one has to say with dismay that rural people leave this industry behind and migrate to urban areas for finding employment. This trend has major socio-economic fallouts for people residing in rural areas. Their culture and living pattern undergoes drastic change while living in urban areas.
While in their native places, their parents and other relatives wait for their return. This will not happen once they find job opportunities at their native places.
Yours etc…
