Srinagar, June 16: Jammu & Kashmir RTI Movement (RTIM) today demanded that people stranded in Kishtwar and Doda areas should be allowed to move towards Kashmir Valley without any movement passes.
In a statement issued here, Chairman RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat said that people who intend to travel to Srinagar from Doda or Kishtwar are being asked by DC office Doda to get a pass from Divisional Commissioner’s office Jammu which is very much difficult.
“How can people from Dacchan, Marwah or Gandoh Bhalessa travel all the way to Jammu and get movement passes? There has to be an online mechanism for it or at least a facilitation center at Kishtwar or Doda DC offices. Movement between Jammu division is managed by local DC offices through an online portal but those who have domestic exigency or medical problems and have to travel to Kashmir valley are asked to get the movement pass from Divisional Commissioner’s office Jammu , which is impossible,” he said.
He asked that Jammu is 250 kms away from many areas of Doda and Kishtwar, how can poor people manage all this long-distance in COVID 19 pandemic.
RTI Movement has appealed to authorities to ease the movement and permissions should be granted at the DC office after proper verification and testing of people intending to travel.
