RTC Volunteer Retired Employees stage protest

JAMMU, Jan 22: All J&K RTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association today staged protest demonstration against Transport Department under the leadership of its president, Dev Raj Bali at Press Club Exhibition Ground here.
The protestors raised their long pending demands included COLA arrears w.e.f 1999, 6th Pay Commission arrears w.e.f January 1, 2006 and implementation of all corporation benefits.
They alleged that due to nonchalant attitude of both Administration as well as Transport Higher Authority, they had been grinding in between the two, resulting of which, nearly 39 VRS have breathed their last as they didn’t afford medical treatment because their dues are yet not cleared.
“We have been struggling for the last more than nine years to get 50% balance payment for cost of living allowance (COLA) arrears, bill of which come to Rs 16, 76, 49, 497 crores and 6th Pay Commission arrears and bonus @8.33 percent”, said Dev Raj Bali while addressing the gathering.
He further said why our balance dues are not being released while all the bills are lying pending in the office of the Finance Department, Civil Secretariat Jammu. They urged the Lt. Governor, J&K UT to intervene in the matter so that the pending payments would be released as soon as possible.
Others who were part of the protest demonstration including Surinder Singh, Balwinder Singh, Prem Nath, BB Sharma, Shiv Kumar, Gulshan Singh and Khadam Hussain.
