JAMMU, Apr 28: As the Coronavirus threat is growing at a rapid speed in Jammu and Kashmir, the people most at risk of COVID-19 infection are those who are in close contact with a suspect and confirmed COVID-19 patients or who care for such patients particularly the Corona warriors like doctors and health care workers. The RSS took a first of its kind initiative to save doctors and health care workers fighting against COVID-19 by providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits for doctors & healthcare workers of GMC Jammu.
RSS, which is always in forefront to serve the nation in the hour of crisis handed over more than two hundred PPE kits to the management of GMC Jammu. PPE kits were handed over by Dr. Goutam Mengi, Prant Sahsangchalak of Jammu Kashmir in presence of Director National Health Mission, Bhupinder Kumar, Principal GMC Jammu, Dr. Sunanda Raina, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Dara Singh, Dr. Anil Manhas, Jai Dev general secretary, Sewa Bharti, Northern region, Dr. Vikrant, Prant Karyavah, Jammu Mahanagar Sanghchalak, Surinder Mohan Gupta and others.
Principal GMC Jammu, Dr. Sunanda Raina appreciated the noble cause of RSS by taking care of medical fraternity.
On this occasion, Dr Mengi said “doctors, nurses, paramedics are the frontline warriors who are fighting the Coronavirus by risking their lives. RSS which always stands with the nation also cares for the health of the doctors, paramedics. As the doctors and other staff in hospitals are risking their lives it is our duty to take care of these frontline warriors”. “We are handing over the Personal Protective Kits (PPE) with specialized goggles to the management so that doctors and other staff in the hospital can protect themselves from the virus” Dr. Mengi, added.
He lauded the role played by the doctors in saving the lives of the COVID-19 affected patients. Doctors are doing the yeoman’s job like soldiers on the borders of the nation. Dr. Mengi also disclosed that the PPE kits will be distributed in the district as well as block level hospitals across Jammu region.
It is pertinent to mention that RSS, Sewa Bharti are distributing dry ration , soap, sanitizers etc. to the needy people from day one of the lockdown. Till date RSS has distributed ration and other essentials to more than forty thousand families and this process will continue till the lockdown is in force.
