JAMMU, Apr 13: A delegation of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) comprising Ramesh Pappa, Akhil Bhartiya Seh Sampark Pramukh; Purshotam Dadichi Karwah and Puran Sharma, Prant Sampark Pramukh, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan and presented to him “Namaste Sada Vatsale Matribhume- A Saga of Courage and Dedication”, a coffee table book brought out by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
This well designed volume reflects the past history and the ongoing activities of the RSS.
Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), accompanied by Dipan Kr. Sahu, Consultant Student Start-up Policy Implementation Unit also met Governor and briefed him about the ongoing activities of the AICTE to bring about significant qualitative improvement in the technical education being imparted in the State and about the AICTE’s Student Start-up Policy which has been designed to guide AICTE approved institutions to promote student driven innovations and start-ups.
He requested Governor, who is Chancellor of the State Universities, to help in institutionalising and integrating the efforts of the State Start-up Mission to harness creative potential of youth across academia.
Governor observed that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra (SMVDU) has already established a Technology Business Incubation Centre (TBIC) for encouraging the spirit of entrepreneurship among the people of the State and has successfully incubated 12 Startups through the TBIC. The University has also organised the “Innovation Challenge” and is engaged in organising Hackathon-2018 in May, 2018.
Governor assured Prof. Sahasrabudhe that he would very soon convene a meeting of all VCs and heads of Higher Education Institutions in the State to discuss and prepare a roadmap for this purpose.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J), met Governor and briefed him about various important academic and administrative matters relating to the functioning of the University and the Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in the Jammu Division.
Governor advised Dr. Sharma to focus on region – specific technological options with the clear objective of working for securing the target of doubling the farmers’ incomes.
Prof. Anju Bhasin, Vice-Chancellor of the Cluster University of Jammu also called on Governor and briefed him about the ongoing initiatives for promoting quality higher education in the colleges affiliated with the University and for introducing new and advanced teaching programmes which are relevant to the existing and arising employment opportunities.
A nine member delegation led by. Rajan Kapoor who is President of Shree Amarnath Yatra Bhandara Organisation (SAYBO) met Governor also appreciated the Board’s continuing support to the Langar organisations and submitted a memorandum relating to Yatra 2018, which included demand for opening On-Spot Registration Counters at Pahalgam and Baltal with positioning of doctors for issuance of Medical Certificates; acceptance of medical certificates issued by competent doctors other than those listed by State Governments to issue Compulsory Health Certificate; allowing Yatris registered for next date to proceed on Yatra in case of short fall in the prescribed quota for the day; giving opportunity to desirous organisations to provide services other than langar seva during the Yatra; more telecom service providers in the Yatra area; tents in good shape be provided to the Yatris; every langar organisation be provided 70 permit cards for their workers; adequate advertisement of Yatra schedules through print and electronic media etc.
Governor directed Umang Narula, CEO Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, who was present in the meeting, to look into SAYBO’s suggestions and urged SAYBO to ensure that the Langars take all required steps to follow the prescribed food menu and maintain cleanliness in their premises throughout the Yatra period and at the time of winding up their establishments.
