JAMMU, Mar 20: Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Jammu, AK Koul has rejected the anticipatory bail to the accused allegedly involved in nearly Rs 70 lakh fake recruitment scam in the Health Department.
The accused, Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Mir Mohammed, resident of Morian Bathian village in Thannamandi (Rajouri) has been booked by the Crime Branch Jammu in case FIR No. 39/2015 under Sections 420, 465, 466, 471, 472, 475 R/W (5) (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act. The investigation by Crime Branch revealed that the accused issued/ managed 139 fake and forged appointment orders of youth from Rajouri-Poonch and other areas on behalf of Commissioner/ Secretary Health and Medical Education Department and extorted huge amount in lieu of these orders from them.
While pleading the case Chief Prosecuting Officer, Rajesh Bakshi from Crime Branch said that the petitioner and his associates as per available information so far, have extorted almost Rs 69.40 lakhs from the people whom they issued fake appointment orders.
The accused was projecting himself as retired Brigadier in the Army having top connections just to influence and lure the innocent youth. Such a person involved in such type of crime can not claim concession of bail and that too, before his arrest. The Crime Branch sleuths are trying to nab him but he is constantly changing his locations and could not be trace till date. And if he was accorded bail at this stage, he may hamper the course of investigation and there is every apprehension that he may tamper with the evidence to thwart the investigation, the CPO pleaded.
The Judge after hearing arguments from petitioner’s counsel Rajesh Bhushan and CPO, Rajesh Bakshi, dismissed the bail application of the accused.
