NC alone can steer J&K to political stability: Slathia

VIJAYPUR, Mar 20: Saying that National Conference alone can give much needed political stability to the sensitive State like Jammu and Kashmir, former Minister and senior State vice president of NC, Surjeet Singh Slathia today assailed PDP-BJP duo for playing with the mandate of people by indulging in petty politicking.
“Politically sagacious people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh will teach the power hungry PDP and BJP a lesson when elections are held”, Mr Slathia said while addressing a public meeting at Smailpur in the Vijaypur Assembly Constituency.
He said times have proven that hollow promises and empty slogans are not going to assuage aspirations of the people. “The people want good governance, development and economic empowerment, which the duo ignored during its 10 month misrule”, he said, adding that the two parties plunged the State into a virtual mess.
Mr Slathia said that history stands testimony to the fact that whenever National Conference got opportunity to serve the people, development, peace and progress remained the only agenda. He said the State has immensely progressed during NC Government, as it believed in equal opportunities of progress to all, irrespective of caste, creed or colour.
Mr Slathia exhorted the people to strengthen National Conference at grass root level and maintain peace and harmony, saying this will be a befitting reply to those who want to divide the society on religious and regional lines.
Responding to local issues, the former Minister said these will be taken up with all concerned for appropriate action. He expressed concern over scarcity of rations at CAPD depots in the constituency and sought buffer stocks and disbursement at the rate of seven kilogram per head.
Among others, Sarpanch Balwant Singh, Swarn Singh, Gulab Din, Sadiq Hussain, Jagdish Singh, Tarsem Kumar, Bhagwan Singh, Raman Gupta, Vijay Singh and Mahinder Singh were also present on the occasion.
