SRINAGAR, Jan 7: Srinagar police have arrested two persons and recovered demonetized currency of Rs 50 lakhs from their possession.
A police party of Police Post Baghiyas led by the In-charge Police Post Sub-Inspector Ajaz Ahmad apprehended two persons during a surprise naka checking near Batboni Baghiyas and recovered demonetized currency of Rs 50 lakhs from their possession.
They were later identified as Nazir Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Ramzan Rather, resident of Syedpora, Rafiabad and Akeel Ahmad Khan son of Ali Mohammad Khan, resident of Kanpur, U P at present Baramulla.
Accordingly, cognizance was taken under “The Specified Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Act,  2017 & further investigation was taken up. These accused persons will be presented before the competent court for judicial determination.
