Rs 5 cr GST recovered from Kashmir unit

JAMMU, Mar 3: Continuing its action against GST evaders in UTs of J&K and Ladakh, the Jammu regional Unit of Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has recovered Rs 5 crore from a Kashmir based manufacturing unit.
The Director of the manufacturing unit on being confronted by officers of DGGI with evidences collected regarding GST evasion accepted the wrongdoing and paid the portion of applicable GST liability immediately to avoid imminent legal actions.
Directorate General of GST Intelligence, the intelligence wing of Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs has stepped up anti-evasion actions against GST evaders across India in recent times, an official handout said.
Since November 2020, more than 400 persons were arrested across India for creating bogus firms for fraudulently availing ITC credit.
The wide scale action against fake firms has resulted in record collection of GST revenue for fourth month in a row. In last four months, the GST collections have crossed one lakh crore rupees in a row.
