Rs 48 cr sanctioned to upgrade facilities at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital: Bhalla

JAMMU, Aug 1: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said that Government has sanctioned Rs 48 crore to upgrade healthcare facilities at the Rajiv Gandhi Hospital Gangyal and develop it as 100 bed hospital.
He said  the  hospital  would be equipped with modern and specialised healthcare facilities  it to deal with the growing rush of patients and reduce referral cases to SMGS and GMC Hospitals, adding that for this purpose a detailed project report has been prepared to develop it as 100-bed  hospital.
This was said by the Minister while interacting with medicos at a Rogi Kalayan Samiti meeting chaired by him at Govt. Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, here today.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Gurmeet Kour, medical and para-medical staff members besides prominent citizens of the area were present on the occasion.
Mr. Bhalla said the Government has prepared a detailed project report for construction of 100-beded hospital including other infrastructure facilities like administrative block, garages, toilet blocks, canteen and parking slot. He said the hospital would also be equipped with CT scan machine, X-ray, laboratory, resuscitation room, analyzer room, blood bank, physiotherapy skin, ultra sound, orthopaedics and  other major treatment facilities.
Taking strong notice of water scarcity in the hospital, the Minister directed the PHE authorities to immediately start the digging work of deep drill tube well, for which Government has approved Rs. 2.5 crore. He said adequate drinking water facilities could be provided even to the adjoining areas people with the commissioning of proposed tube well project for the hospital. He said that Rs. 9 lakh have been sanctioned for  computerisation of various sections besides putting up sign boards  for  the  guidance of patents  at    emergency, OPD blocks  and other facilities available in the hospital .
On the occasion, the Medical Superintended apprised the Minister   problems being faced by the hospital management and the patients and attendants and demanded industrial light connection, provision for gen-set, special feeder for the hospital, posting of orthopaedic surgeon, general surgeon, ENT Skin specialists, security arrangements flood light besides matador and  auto services to the hospital.
Earlier, the Minister held a public darbar at Jatwal village in Samba district and   listened to the  demands  of the villagers.
Responding to the demand of issuance of Kissan Credit Cards, Mr. Bhalla said that out of 900 registered farmers of Ghagwal block 815 cards have  already been distributed. He said Kisan Credit Card provides affordable credit for farmers, adding that it was started by the Reserve Bank of India and, NABARD to help farmers access timely and adequate credit.
For facilitating the farmers community, Mr. Bhalla said Government has also provided loan on 4% interest through J&K Bank. He asked them to prepare kissan credit cards for availing such benefit.
The Minister also conducted extensive tour to Ghagwal, Raghu Chak, Naid, Taloor, Badheri, Dagore, Sordi, Palura Kesso Manhasan and Sujwan villages and assessed the drought situation caused due to poor monsoon.
