Rs 3 cr fine imposed on erring stone crushers

KATHUA, Sept 11: District Mining Department Kathua has imposed Rs. 3 crore fine on three stone crushers for illegal storage and consumption of raw/furnished material thereby depriving revenue to State exchequer.
The three stone crusher units were earlier inspected by a team comprising of officials/officers of Flood Control, PWD, Revenue, Forest, Rural Development Department and Geology and Mining Department constituted by the Deputy Commissioner.
The team found that these stone crushers have illegally stored/dumped huge quantity of minor minerals in the premises of their unit in sheer violation of the J&K Minor Mineral concession Storage, Transportation of Minerals, Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, provisions of SRO 105 and SRO 302.
Accordingly, notices were served to them and fine was imposed on the violators M/s Om Sai Screener Rs. 3474350, M/s Jai Rajputana Screener Rs 25921187 and M/s New Jai Rajputana Stone Crusher Rs 559455 on all located at village Taraf Tajwal of Kathua.
The units have been directed to deposit the fine at the office of District Mineral Office within 7 days from the date of issue of the notices. Failing which strict action under rules shall be initiated against them.
