Rs 3 cr earmarked for two deep drill tubewells at Channi Himmat: Bhalla

JAMMU, Feb 16: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today said that Government has earmarked Rs. 3 crore for digging of two deep drill tubewells at Channi Himmat, adding that the projects would be started by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) in the month of April 2013.
This was informed by the Minister while addressing a large gathering after laying foundation stone of Phase-II Green Belt Park at Channi Himmat Housing Colony, to be developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 227.22 lakh, here today.
Managing Director Housing Board, Kiran Wattal, Secretary Housing Board, Rampaul Sharma besides other senior officers of ERA, PHE, Housing Board, PDD and Flouriculture Department accompanied the Minister.
Mr. Bhalla said that Phase-II of the Green Belt Park would be developed with the facilities of sprinkler system, illumination, benches, open air theatre, landscaping, walkway, mali/chowkidar hut, toilet block, reading room, badminton room, gym, canteen,  food courts, water coolers and exercise point by April this year.
He asked the Housing Board authorities to develop the open spaces available in the Housing Colonies as recreational parks or pathways.
Responding to the locals demand, Mr. Bhalla said Government has released Rs. 15 crore for upgradation of Channi Himmat nallah and surface drains in whole locality. He said the project would be started by March 15 this year for the convenience of the residents. Regarding construction of passenger shed near matador stand and toilet complex in sector-3 in Channi Himmat, he said that instructions have been issued to JMC for early start of the projects.
For mecademisation of Channi Himmat Sector 1, 2 and 5 link roads, the Minister said the upgradation work including blacktopping could be started immediately after the start of project season.
Earlier, the Minister inspected the ongoing construction work of flats at Channi Himmat, to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 449.10 lakh under self-financing scheme by July this year. He asked the Housing Board to put their sincere efforts in completing the project within prescribed time frame so that the flats could be handed over to the applicants as per commitment.
Taking strong notice on the delay of constructions by plot holders, Mr. Bhalla asked the Managing Director Housing Board to issue notices for construction of compound walls or houses within the limit of alloted land.
