Rs 28.54 cr released in two years under CD, Panchayat sector

Srinagar, June 18: Government today said it released an amount of Rs. 2854.35 lakhs under CD and Panchayat sector for the last two years.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania in Lower House, Minister incharge Rural Development and Panchayati Raj stated that it had released an amount of Rs 2854.35 lakhs including Rs. 1204.35 lakhs during 2014- 15 and Rs. 1650 lakh during 2015-16  under CD and Panchayat for the last two years.
“For Jammu Rs. 773.24 lakh during 2014-15 and Rs. 825 lakh during 2015-16 was released. And, for Kashmir Rs 431 lakh during 2014-15 and Rs. 825 lakh during 2015-16 were released,” the Minister stated. He said during the last two years, an amount of Rs. 22.65 lakhs was released to district Udhampur.
The Minister further stated that the UCs for the year 2014-15 were sent to Government of India in time. “The expenditure was however less than 60% recorded by the districts to claim the 2nd installment as per guidelines. The revised UCs were sent in December 2015 and the MORD has released an amount of Rs 1957.992 lakhs as 2nd installment of 2014-15. The same is now being released to the districts whose expenditure is more than 60%,” the Minister stated.
In his supplementary, MLA Nawang Rigzin Jora asked whether Government has any plans to address the shortage of engineering and administrative staff in hilly and snow bound areas like Leh and Kargil. Replying to the supplementary, the Minster said: “We will try to rationalise the staff. I will prioritise the areas which have been neglected so far. I will try to take hilly and snow bound areas immediately after the release of funds and allocation of posts”.
