JAMMU, Oct 12: DDC Chairman Jammu Bharat Bhushan today asserted that Rs 104 crore has been granted for providing potable water supply to Bhalwal Brahmana Block under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
Addressing a Public Darbar here at BDO office Bhalwal Brahmana, the Chairman DDC Jammu said that Government is committed to provide tap water to every household till 2022 under Jal Jeevan Mission and in this regard Rs 104 crore will be spend to resolve water crisis in this arid block reeling under severe dearth of water. Sharing more information, he said that 25 new tube wells and the same number of dug wells will be constructed in the area to address the issue of water scarcity.
DDC Vice Chairman Suraj Singh Bhau, ADDC Ramesh Kumar, SDM Khour, BDO Bhalwal Brahmana and officers of other departments were also present.
At the outset of the Public Darbar, the people of the area apprised the DDC Chairman about their problems related to power, water and road connectivity. The DDC Chairman after keenly going through the issues of the people, directed the officials of the line departments to mitigate the problems on the spot while those issues which required time for resolutions were noted by him to be carried out in shortest possible time.
Bharat Bhushan asked the concerned officials not to wait for the people to raise such issues and accomplish the works before the same starts irking the public. On the occasion, he also appealed to the Government to grant compensation to border dwellers, who are unable to cultivate their land as the same has come under fencing.
The DDC Chairman also clarified to the farmers that Fasal Bima Yojana covers only paddy and wheat crops. He said that the problem of Bhalwal Brahmana Block is genuine that they grow pulses, corn and millet and the same should also be covered under the insurance scheme. Bharat Bhushan said that he will project this demand at the concerned quarters of the Government and it is likely that sooner than later the issue will be resolved in the favour of the farming community.
