JAMMU, Nov 7: Keeping a check over use of cash and any other illegal materials during forthcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, police today seized Rs 10.59 lakh cash from a car in Siot area, falling under the jurisdiction of Dharamsal police station.
As per police sources, police team from Dharamsal police station led by AdSP Nowshera Rakesh Kumar and SHO Dharamsal Charanjeet Singh raised a naka at Siot and intercepted a car bearing registration number JK14B-8838.
During frisking of the car, police team recovered Rs 10.69 lakh cash being carried by the driver of the car namely Rohit Gupta of district Udhampur.
During questioning, Rohit Gupta failed to give satisfactory reply and police seized the cash and cheque and handed over the same to Election Flying Squad, Nowshera for further investigation.
