JAMMU, Sept 9: The Royal Charter Day was today celebrated by the Institution of Engineers (IEI), Jammu Centre at Institutional Complex, Sector -3, Channi Himmat.
On this occasion Er. L K Mengi, FIE; Former Chief Engineer J&K Govt, was the chief guest whereas Prof. Dr. Bhawna Sharma Chairman, IEI Jammu Centre presided over the function.
Addressing to the attendants, Prof. Dr. Bhawna Sharma said this day is celebrated not only to commemorate a significant milestone in our Institution’s history but also to reflect upon the enduring legacy of engineering excellence that has shaped our country, region and our profession. She emphasized that the engineers are at the forefront of addressing issued such as sustainability, renewable energy, digitalization and infrastructure development.
Er. Samir Sharma, MIE; former Hony. Secretary of IEI, Jammu Centre, described about the History, Relevance & Privileges granted to the Institution by virtue of being given the Royal Charter by His Majesty, The King and Emperor George V at the Court of Buckingham Palace, London on 9th of September, 1935.
Pertinently, IEI is the only professional body in India to have been granted this Royal Charter and it practices these privileges even today in Independent India.
Er. L. K. Mengi, FIE; Chief Guest lauded the elaborate speech of the Keynote speaker and appreciated the efforts of the Jammu Local Centre for organizing this event.
Er. Sachin Tickoo, MIE; Honorary Secretary conducted the proceedings of the seminar and presented the vote of thanks to the gathering and media personnel for active participation.
The function was attended by Engineers from various departments, organizations and senior engineers along with members of the committee of IEI, Jammu Centre.
