JAMMU, Aug 21: The Government has cancelled the route permit of vehicle No JK 13A/1001 as the vehicle is repeatedly being used for smuggling of bovine animals.
An order to this affect was issued by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Pulwama recently.
While issuing the route permit cancellation order of the vehicle the ARTO in his order mentioned that the vehicle which stands registered in the name of Abdul Gani Dar, S/O Ama Dar of Dogripora Pulwma is being repeatedly used for the smuggling of bovine animals and SSP Udhampur and SSP Doda have written letters to his office regarding the same. The SSP, Udhampur in his communiqué to ARTO Pulwama has stated that the vehicle was repeatedly being used for smuggling of bovine animals and a number of cases under Section 188 RPC Act are registered against the vehicle at PS Kud and P/S Chenani falling under the jurisdiction of SSP Udhampur.
The order further said that show cause notices were also issued to the owner of the vehicle by ARTO on June 26 last year and he failed to reply the notices after the letter of SSP Udhampur.
After failing to comply and mend his ways the vehicle was again found involved in smuggling of smuggling of bovine animals, it said.
The order said that SSP Doda through a communiqué informed ARTO on July 30 this year that the vehicle was once again found involved in smuggling of bovine animals and a case FIR was also registered against it.
In view of the magnitude of offences and non-seriousness on the part of the owner of the vehicle who was provided many opportunities the ARTO has cancelled the route permit of the vehicle.
