UDHAMPUR, Aug 24: Free screening camp was organized in Pakhlai, Tehsil Chenani by Udhampur Rotary Eye & General Welfare Foundation.
During the camp, 125 patients were screened, out of which 25 were found partially blind.
23 patients were later operated free of cost for implantation of IOL and all the blind patients regained their vision.
CMO Udhampur, Dr K C Dogra was invited as chief guest in this function, Rtn D N Sharma, Chairman of Rotary Eye Hospital Udhampur, Rtn Rajendra Sanson secretary general, Rtn S S Kerni, Rtn V S Raja, Rtn Lok Paul Singh, Rtn Col. Hargovind Singh along with the operated patients and their attendants were also present during the camp. Awareness was also given to the patients about the eye care after surgery so that better vision is maintained in future.
These patients remained deprived of advance medical treatment due to non availability of medical facilities in their areas. The Chairman of Rotary Eye Hospital Udhampur, Rtn D N Sharma assured the public to organize such more camps in rural areas of Udhampur district. till the whole of the district becomes avoidable blindness free.
According to a handout, the Foundation’s efforts will be continuing further also, till whole of preventable blindness is eradicated from Distt Udhampur. Rotary Eye Hospital will extend all sort of support in coordination with Rotarians of Rotary Club for doing this noble project, the handout added.
Till date 265 patients were operated free of cost for implantation of Intra Ocular Lens under the HBCEHP.
