JAMMU, July 22: Commenting on media report highlighting the alleged involvement of two National Conference workers in the arson and loot in South Kashmir as aftermath of the killing of HM commander Burhan Wani, Brig Anil Gupta, state BJP spokesperson today said that NC has been thoroughly exposed and its role in the recent turmoil in Kashmir should be an eye-opener for the people of the State.
“As per the media reports, SSP Kulgam has confirmed arrest of seven persons, including two NC workers and staunch supporters of former Minister Sakeena Ittoo, for their alleged involvement in looting weapons from Damhal Hanjipora police station and also firing on the local Army camp from behind a crowd, setting on fire CJM’s Court and thereafter, the police station,” he said and added that this expose had added credence to the earlier apprehensions that for lust of power, NC leadership has joined hands with the separatists in the Valley.
The BJP spokesman further pointed out that it was the obvious reason as to why the NC boycotted the all- party meet convened by CM on July 21. “With what face they could have attended the meeting? The boycott by NC has also exposed its dual face and double – speak. The Party is not at all interested in the well-being of the people of the State but is willing to resort to any means to return to power. The NC leadership is unable to digest the fact that it has been rejected by the people time and again as is evident from its shrinking number of seats and vote share,” he said and mentioned that even in the recent Anantnag by-poll, the NC candidate lost his security deposit despite the venomous campaign launched by its leadership against BJP- PDP alliance.
Brig Anil Gupta further stated that though Sakeena Ittoo has dismissed the report and termed it as a “conspiracy”, the allegation is too serious and needs to be investigated expeditiously and role of NC in fuelling the current turmoil exposed.
