JAMMU, Apr 26: A Rohingya woman was murdered by her husband in Jammu’s Malik Market area on Friday, police said.
They said Rafia Begum (19) wife of Ashaq Ullah of Burma at present Malik Market had an altercation with her husband over something owing to which the latter attacked her wife with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in injuries to the woman.
She was taken to Government Medical College where doctors declared her dead on arrival, said police.
SHO Trikuta Nagar Amit Sangra said that a manhunt has been launched to arrest the absconding husband of the woman who is on the run after committing the crime.
Asked whether the couple was staying in Malik Market area with UNHCR identities, the police officer replied affirmatively.
While police have shifted the body of the deceased woman to the mortuary of the hospital a case under relevant sections of the law stands registered at Trikuta Nagar Police Station and further investigation taken up.
