JAMMU, May 18: Police solved a robbery case with the arrest of three persons in 48 hours.
This was stated by SSP Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta during a press conference in the office of SP Rural at Domana.
He stated that on May 16, a person namely Parveen Kumar, son of Harbans Lal of Seri Panditan, Tehsil Bhalwal in an injured condition informed police post Pouni Chack that he is working as cashier in Security India Private Limited Trikuta Nagar and his job is to collect the money from different client agencies.
After collecting Rs 5 lakh from Rahul of E.Com Express Courier Agency at Talab Tillo, the complainant was on his way to deposit the same in a private bank at Bahu Plaza, SSP said, adding that the complainant was stopped by three persons riding on a bike near Hazoori Bagh and attacked him with rod and sharp-edged weapon (toka). The persons snatched the bag containing cash from the complainant and escaped from the spot, SSP added.
Dr Gupta further stated that a case under FIR Number 140/16 under relevant Sections of law was registered at Domana and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, police officers reached the spot and made enquiries from the nearby residents and also from the office bearers of the aforesaid courier agency, SSP said, adding that a team was constitute to investigate on different aspects of case.
Efforts were made to get any video footage from the escape route of the accused persons, he said, adding that suspects of the surrounding area like Hazoori Bagh, Talab Tillo, Gho Manhasa and Marh were questioned and from some reliable sources got a clue regarding one of the accused namely Vishal Sharma alias Vishu, son of Vijay Kumar of Galwade Chack.
During sustained questioning, Vishu revealed the names of his two associates namely Bushan Sharma, son of Sham Lal Sharma of Punnu Di Hatti, tehsil Marh and Johny, son of Babu Ram of Patinyal, tehsil Marh.
All the accused have been arrested and they had also confessed to commit the offence, SSP said, adding that Rs 4.66 lakh have been recovered on their disclosure.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Domana Inspector Rajeshwar Singh and assisted by Incharge Pouni Chak police post SI Vikrant solved the robbery case and arrested the accused under the supervision of SDPO Domana SK Sharma and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
Meanwhile, in a special drive against traffic rules offenders, police seized 156 music systems from passenger vehicles in Nowabad and Nehru Market police post areas. Nowabad police seized 87 music systems while Nehru Market police seized 69.
