Road connectivity vital for rural development: Col Mahan

KATHUA, May 12: Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Kathua Col Mahan Singh (retired) has asserted that road connectivity is vital for overall development of rural areas.
He stated this while addressing a gathering at Jandrota in Saman Panchayat here today. It is pertinent to mention here that the DDC Chairman was on a visit to the area to conduct an inspection of the ongoing work of link road to SC Basti Jandrota, Saman Panchayat in Basohli Block.
Prominent among others who accompanied the DDC Chairman were Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) PWD Sub Division Basohli, Capt Harnam Singh, Sarpanch Davinder Singh and Naib Sarpanch Rajinder Kumar. Local residents, especially women and youth in large numbers present on the occasion were jubilant and full of praise for the DDC Chairman for the construction of 1 km road estimated to cost Rs 22 lakh by PWD Division Basohli.
Speaking on the occasion, Col Mahan Singh said that road connectivity is hall mark of development in any part of the world and forms an inseparable part of the Prime Minister’s agenda of overall development across the nation. He said that all efforts will be made to improve roads not only in this Panchayat area but in areas across the entire district.
The DDC Chairman said that the BJP Government at the Centre is fully committed to provide the basic amenities including roads, power and water supply to the people especially those living in remote and far flung areas. He said that the administration is fully sensitive towards the issues of the people and is taking comprehensive measures for redressal of the same at the earliest. He asserted that the overall development is on the priority list of the BJP Government with special focus on the remote and far flung areas of which road connectivity is an essential part.
