Problems galore in Ward No 7

JAMMU: Newly elected Congress party Corporator of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) from Ward Number 7 Ritu Cho-udhary has asserted that she would aware the masses about the drug menace so as to save the future of the youth.
The areas, which fall in this Ward are Kanji House, Prem Nagar, Christian Colony, Padder Mohallah and Old Prem Nagar.
While interacting with the residents it came to the fore that they are facing problems like water scarcity, insanitary conditions, deplorable condition of lanes and drains, damaged street lights etc.
“In this ward, people are facing problems due to water scarcity. Drinking water is not being supplied on regular basis. Due to irregular supply of drinking water, we cannot carry out our routine work including cooking food, washing clothes and utensils, etc”, Neetu Verma, a resident said.
“The insanitary condition in our ward needs immediate attention as it is the issue to be addressed on priority due to fear of breaking out of health related problems”, another resident said, adding that more manpower is required to tackle this insanitary issue.
The issue of dilapidated condition of the lanes and drains also came to the fore while interacting with the residents, to which they said that they have elected a dedicated Municipal Corporator, who will sort out the issue in the shortest possible time.
Some of the parks in this Ward required immediate attention of the Floriculture Department as due to deplorable condition of these parks, the morning and evening walkers viz children face manifold problems.
When all these issues were taken up with the elected Corporator Ritu Choudhary, she asserted that all the issues including installation of street lights, scarcity of drinking water, repair work of lanes and drains, etc will be taken up with the concerned authorities for redressal.
“Women security is the main thing, which I would address by getting the street lights installed”, she said, adding that issue of development of parks will be taken up with the Floriculture Department and it will be ensured that all the parks will be developed for morning and evening walkers viz children on priority basis.
“Anti drugs awareness campaign will be carried out in the ward so that the parents keep watch on their wards from falling into the trap of drug menace”, she said when asked for action to be initiated against the drug menace.
