Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, KK Sharma, paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary during a grand function organised by Gandhi Global Family (GGF) J&K at Diwan-e-Aam Mubarak Mandi Jammu to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti. President Gandhi Global Family SP Verma was also present on the occasion. Later, the Advisor visited Panchayat Ghar Jandrah where in a relief camp was organized for distributing groceries and hygiene kits among 100 local needy families of the area. Prominent among those who paid floral tributes to the Father of nation were GGF Executive member MM Joshi, Sarpanch Jandrah, Anil Sharma besides people from all walks of life.
J&K BJP paid warm tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. Former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta, J&K BJP General Secretary and former Minister Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, former MLC Vikram Randhawa, BJP Secretary Arvind Gupta and others paid tributes to the great figures.
On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, senior BJP leader and JMC Councilor Sanjay Baru organized an event in Ward No 41. General Secretary of BJP and Former Minister Dr Devinder Manyal was chief guest on the occasion. BJP Talab Tillo Mandal President Keshav Chopra and all prominent leaders of the Ward were also present there and paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
BJP OBC Morcha celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Jatinder Bharti, District President BJP OBC Morcha Kathua organized sewing machines and dry ration distribution programme at Govindsar in Kathua. Braham Jyot Satti, President BJP OBC Morcha JK-UT along with UT OBC Morcha Team were also present.
On Gandhi Jayanti BJP Talab Tillo Mandal paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi under the leadership of Keshav Chopra and a cleanliness drive was also organized at Krishna Nagar Park in which District President Jammu West BJP, Munish Khajuria, JMC Chairman and Municipal Councillor Ward 12 Jeet Angral, JKUT BJP Additional Publicity Secretary Ayodhya Gupta participated in the function.

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) celebrated birth anniversary of Father of the Nation and Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Srinagar party office. Floral tributes were paid to Father of the Nation on and Former Prime Lal Bahadur Shastri. The Function was chaired by JKPCC President G.A Mir while senior party functionaries Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Raman Mattoo, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Surinder Singh Channi, Bashir Ahmad Magrey, Mohd Muzaffar Parray, Nissar Ahmad Mundoo, Shamema Iqbal, Shameema Raina and other also addressed the gathering. G.A Mir paid tributes to Gandhi Ji and Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and recalled their contributions to the nation.
Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated at Ward No. 55 Gangyal Jammu. Th. Jai Singh, Sr. Congress leader was organizer of the function and he paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. He also talked about services of Mahatma Gandhi. Those who were present on the occasion were Bhisham Singh Raju, Bishno Devi, Ashwani Natti, Daleep Singh Choudary, S.S Laddi, Arun Singh Sunny, Adv Rahul Singh, Master Anand Khajuria and Madan Lal.
Vice President JKPCC and Former Minister, G.M Saroori paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 151st birth anniversary. He recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s contributions to the struggle for the achievement of freedom from the colonial yoke, his sustained campaign against social injustice, racism and suppression of the under-privileged sections and his unending pursuit for establishment of a truly secular and harmonious society. The Congress leaders also paid tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Senior Advocate and Indian National Congress leader, Ashok Bhan paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and said in J&K people revered Gandhi as a unifier visionary Bapu. He said when the sub-continent was burning with human killings, loot, arson and forced migration of people to and fro to India and Pakistan, Mahatma described the peace, unity and amity in Kashmir valley as the light from Banihal tunnel for future of the sub continent.
A function was orgainised by Congress Minority Department Jammu Urban on birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi under the chairmanship of JJ Singh, Chairman Minority Department and Vice Chairman, Balwinder Singh Rinku. Different speakers remembered Mahatma Gandhi and his services to the nation.
National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) under the leadership of its National President, Neeraj Kundan remembered Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri. NSUI observed Satyagraha to pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri were among shining jewels in the Indian leadership who were born in India and left a great history and message for the coming generations. This was started by Prof. Bhim Singh, Executive Chairman of UT Legal Aid Committee and Chief Patron of National Panthers Party. NPP leaders Rajeev Khosla (DPP), Arvind Gosh (WBPP), Farooq Ahmed Dar (KPP), etc also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
J&K National Conference paid glowing tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 151st birth anniversary, terming him a doyen of secularism, harmony and peace. NC Additional General Secretary, Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal while speaking on the occasion said Gandhi Ji, a recognizable figure of the twentieth century propagated and envisaged an idea of India with equal opportunities for all.

To commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, the office of Dean Students’ Welfare, Central University of Jammu has organized several events and activities for and among students along with other stakeholders to highlight Gandhian thought and philosophy. A webinar has been organised on the theme entitled “Gandhi and Youth”, wherein two eminent scholars viz. Dr. Anil Dutt Mishra and Dr. Rakesh Thakur were invited for sharing their views. The welcome address was given by Prof Rasal Singh, DSW, CUJ. He welcomed Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, CUJ and the speakers of the day. Brief introduction of the speakers was given by Dr Shaveta Kohli, ADSW.
To cherish and rejuvenate ideals propounded by Mahatma Gandhi, one of which was emphasis on cleanliness, Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu administered Swachhta pledge to faculty members, officers, staff, scholars and students in an online and offline mode in the Campus as well. Earlier Prof Jasbir Singh, Dean Students Welfare delivered a formal welcome address. The second part of the event was organized on the virtual platform which was joined by a large number of teachers, officials and students as well.
University of Kashmir organized a ‘Swachhta Pledge’ event and a special cleanliness drive to mark the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Vice-Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad read out the ‘Swachhta Pledge’ at a function which saw active participation of top academics and officers.
In commemoration of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) fraternity participated in the Swachhta Pledge ceremony. Prof RK Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, urged the faculty and staff to fulfill Gandhiji’s vision of clean India.
The birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi were organized at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu. Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu Prof JP Sharma shared his views through online mode. Dean Students Welfare office along with NSS instructors in “Student Centre” of SKUAST-J conducted the function. The programme started with lighting of Lamp by Dr Sushmita M Dadhich and Dr Nomita Laishram the lady Scientist of the University.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Jammu Central University Shakshik Sangh (JCUSS) organized a talk on the topic “Role of Women in Atma Nirbhar Bharat: Gandhian Perspective”. Dr Nirmala Yadav, Additional General Secretary, Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) and Principal, Mahatma Gandhi P G College, Firozabad was the chief guest and Pinkesh Lata Raghuvanshi, Member Governing Board, Barkatullah University, Bhopal was the key note speaker. Dr Richa Kothari, President, JCUSS, Dr Yashwant Singh, General Secretary, JCUSS, Dr Ajay Singh, Vice-President, JCUSS, Dr Shwetambhari, Joint-Press Secretary and many others were present.
NSS units of GDC Kathua celebrated Gandhi Jayanti. In an effort to do some constructive work on Gandhi Jayanti volunteers conducted cleanliness drive in their respective villages Barnoti, Lakhanpur, Taraf Sanji, Jarai etc. Volunteers also conducted door to door campaign regarding Swachh Bharat Mission. The entire activities were conducted under the supervision of College Principal Prof Assa Ram Sharma and NSS Programme officers Prof Manmohan Singh, Prof Ritu Kumar Sharma and Prof Neha Bandral.
Government College for Women Bhagwati Nagar organized a series of online events to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi under the guidance of Principal Professor Minnie Sharma. The events include inter college poster making competition, inter-collage making competition and inter-college slogan writing competition. E-certificates were awarded to the winners. In poster making competition, Navjot Singh from SPMR College bagged first positions, while Anjali Nanda from GCW Bhagwati Nagar got the second position and third position was bagged by Vanshika Rajput from GCW Bhagwati Nagar. In slogan writing competition, first prize was awarded to Dalvinder Kour from SPMR College, Janvi Gupta from GCW Bhagwati Nagar bagged the second position and third position was shared by Neha Sharma from GDC Akhnoor and Ridhima Gupta from GCW Bhagwati Nagar. In collage making competition, Purvika Kashyap from GCW Bhagwati Nagar bagged the first position, Navjot Singh form SPMR College got the second position and Kashish Vaid from GCW Bhagwati Nagar secure the third position.
Series of activities were conducted to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti at GLDM Degree College Hiranagar. The activities include Intra-Collegiate Poster Making, Slogan Writing Competition, cleanliness drives in the campus and Swachhta Pledge. Principal, staff, students, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets took Swachhta Pledge. In his presidential address Principal of the College Prof Kuldeep Singh Koushal asked the audiences to follow the Principle of truth and non-Violence in their lives.
To commemorate birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jammu organized various events. Pledge ceremony was held in the presence of Dr Sameru Sharma, Principal GCET, Vinakshi Koul, Registrar, faculty, staff and students of the institution on Swachta through both offline as well as online mode. Er Sandeep Singh, Secretary Shri Gandhi Sewa Sadan, enlightened the students about scope of Engineering in Khadi products. An online visit of the students along with faculty was conducted to Khadi Gram Udyog, Jammu. National level Online Quiz Competition on theme “Principles and Philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi” was also organized.
NCC Unit (2 JK Girls Battalion Jammu) of Government College for Women, Udhampur organized a poster-making competition on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. In the competition, Cadet Kashish Kanwar stood first, Tania Sharma stood second and Prakriti Sharma secured third position. Principal Prof Minu Mahajan mentioned about the relevance and importance of the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi in today’s world.
To celebrate birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Government Degree College, Chenani organized Inter College activities on ‘Khadi and Self Sustainability’ and ‘Women Empowerment’. The students from different institutions across the UT participated in the event enthusiastically. Principal of the College, Dr. Pragya Khanna announced that E-certificates shall be given to the winners.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Government Degree College Banihal organized a webinar on Gandhi Jayanti and UN recognized International Day of Non-Violence, 2020. The online event over zoom platform was organized by Deepak Kumar PTI, coordinated by Prof Ram Parkash HoD Maths and convened by Prof Ajay Kumar HoD Sociology under the mentorship of Prof (Dr) Manohar Lal, Principal of the college. On the occasion, Prof Mushtaq Ahmed Sohil HoD Political Science and Prof Shah-e-Jahan Ganie HoD English expressed their views. Danish Rafiq, a student of BA Semester-1 was declared the winner.
To celebrated birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, GDC Kakrayal/Katra organized inter college online activities including essay writing competition and poster and painting making competition under the patronage of Dr CK Khajuria, Principal of the college. E-certificates were awarded to best five participants in each category.
Government Degree College RS Pura concluded the ongoing celebration of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi under the guidance of the Principal Dr Sunita Sudan. The celebration concluded with execution of different activities by various units of the college. 2 J&K Girls Battalion NCC Jammu and NSS Unit organized Sangeet Sangam, EBSB unit organized a webinar on the theme Revisiting Gandhian Values and Career Counseling Cell organized an Inter Collegiate online quiz. In connection with celebration of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and International Day of Non-Violence, IQAC unit of Government Degree College, Doda, organized a UT level Essay competition based on the theme “Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in the Present Era” and Painting Competition on the theme “Gandhi and Value Education”. The event was organized under the leadership of Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqui, Principal, Government Degree College, Doda. First, second and third prizes in the painting competition were bagged by Poonam (BMS Paramedical Institute Jammu), Seema Thakur and Pallvi (Government PG College Gandhi Nagar Jammu) respectively, In Essay Writing Competition, first, second and third prizes were bagged by Anoop Kumar (Jammu University), Atif Ali (GDC Doda) and Aniece Choudhary (GDC Akhnoor) respectively. E-certificates and merit certificates were issued to the winners and participants.

The second position was shared by Poonam Sharma of BMS Institute of Para-medical Sciences, Manik Kumar of GCET Jammu and Shivam Khajuria of SMVDU. The third position was shared by Palvi of GCW Gandhi Nagar Jammu and Riya Verma of GDC Vijaypur. The consolations prizes were awarded to Sanjeev Sarmal of Central Basic Higher Secondary School, Jammu, Archit Benerji of DICT, West Bengal and Ashish Chouhan of DCRUST University, Delhi-NCR. Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College expressed her views.
Government Degree College Jindrah celebrated Gandhi Jayanti by taking Swachhta Pledge in the college by the students and staff. Various programmes and events were organized for the last week under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Rajshree Dhar, Principal of the college. The events include National level online essay writing competition, plantation and cleanliness drives, online poster making competition and online symposium. In symposium, Diksha Rani of 5th sem scored first position, Arun Bassan of 1st sem stood 2nd whereas Deepika Devi of Sem 1st clinched 3rd prize.
In order to commemorate birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the NSS unit of GDC Khour organized various online events. The entire competition was organized by NSS Program Officer Prof Gurvinder Kour under the supervision of Prof Hans Raj Principal of the College. In locating Gandhi Statues around the globe, Sakshi Sharma from Department of Environmental Science, University of Jammu secured 1st place, Ajit Kumar from GDC Reasi secured 2nd place and Roshini Choudhary from GDC Khour secured 3rd place. In virtual Vegetarian Food Fest, Ritu Kumari from Marwari College, Ranchi secured 1st place, Anurag Tyagi from Cluster University of Jammu secured 2nd place and Anjali from Government PG College Safidon secured 3rd place. In Finding Rare Facts about Gandhi, Manik Kumar from GCET secured 1st position, Ram Avtar Pandey from Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi secured 2nd place and Rajni Devi from GDC Akhnoor secured 3rd position. In Bhajan singing, Manvi Sharma from Government College for Women Udhampur secured 1st place, Bharati Devi and Anjali Khokhar from GDC Khour secured 2nd and 3rd place respectively. E-certificates were awarded to all the participants.
The NSS wing of GCW Udhampur celebrated Gandhi Jayanti. On the occasion, three events were organized i.e. online inter-collegiate quiz competition on the topic “Gandhi’s life and Philosophy”, online inter-collegiate Bhajan singing competition and Webinar on the topic, “A reflection on New Education Policy vis-à-vis Gandhis’ Concept of Elementary Education under Wardha Scheme”. In quiz competition, a large number of students from various colleges of UT of J&K has participated and all are awarded with E-certificates after getting a desired score or percentage. In Bhajan Singing competition, Jahanvi Sharma got 1st position, while Manvi Sharma and Dharni Verma bagged 2nd and 3rd prize respectively. However, Sunakshi Raina and Neena Devi were awarded certificate of merit. Prof Minu Mahajan, Principal of the college was also present on the occasion.
Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated by the NSS Unit of GDC Udhampur under the guidance of Principal of the College Prof Subhash Chander Sharma. A slogan writing competition was organised on the topic “Non Violence” in which the first, second and third prizes were bagged by Prinka Manhas from BSc Sem 5, Prashant Khajuria from BSc Sem 4 and Meenakshi Devi from BSc Sem 5 respectively. Essay writing competition was held on the topic “Gandhiji and the Present World: A Bird’s Eye View”, in which first, second and third prizes were bagged by Priti Rani from BSc Sem 5, Ritika Khajuria from BSc Sem 2, and Rahul Sharma from BA Sem 5. A webinar was organized on the topic “Gandhian Values in Modern Times” where a gripping talk was delivered by Dr Pankaj Sharma. A quiz competition on Gandhian philosophy was also organized, wherein first position was bagged by Amit Sharma, Sonia, Vanshika Gupta and Reetika from Semester 1, Anuj Basnotra and Shruti Sharma from Semester 3, GDC Udhampur, and Mohammad Altaf from Semester 5. Second position was clinched by Sunil Rajput, Ajay Sharma, Kirti Bhat, Lalit Gupta, Pallavi, Harsheen Kour, Gagan Parihar from Semester 1, Neha Devi, Manju Devi, Ebenez Mathew, Riya Sharma, Simran Kumari, Ritika Sharma, Avleen Kour, Navjot Balwal and Harhsika from Semester 3, Madhav Sharma and Priyansh from Semester 5, Anika Nair from PG English Semester 3 and Toyba Kosar, Lovely Rajput and Dollance Bhatti from MA Semester 3, GCW Parade, while third position was clinched by Mansvi Sharma, Rash Paul, Rahul Singh, Niharika, Nandini Angral, Amit Khajuria from Semester 1, Tania Sharma, Palak Mahajan, Megha Bali, Priti Jaswal, Atish Sharma, Naman Jandial, Shivani Raina from Semester 3, Zabina Koser, Shubam Sharma, Shubh Dev Singh, Vishesh Koushal from Semester 5, GDC Udhampur.
Government Degree College Ukhral organized online inter college quiz on the theme “Gandhian Philosophy”. The students of Sem 1 and 3rd participated in quiz competition. The quiz was conducted by Dr Shafiq Ahmad Katoch and Ishfaq Hussain Mir. On this occasion students and staff took Swachhta Pledge to cherish and reinvigorate Mahatma Gandhi’s love and emphasis on Swachhta. Speaking on the occasion Dr Ranvijay Singh Principal of the college highlighted the relevance of Gandhian philosophy in present era.
NSS Unit in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club and Department of History of GDC Paloura (Mishriwala) under the patronship of Prof Ramneek Kaur, Principal GDC Paloura organized Inter College Online Essay Writing and Quiz Competition on birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on the themes :Mahatma Gandhi: His Life and Principles and Gandhiji’s Role in Indian National Movement (1917-1947)”. In essay writing competition, Fatima Nori of GCW Gandhi Nagar and Randhir Sen of GDC Paloura bagged the first prize, Sujata Rani of GCW Gandhi Nagar secured the second position, Zaheen Shokat of GCW Gandhi Nagar clinched the third prize. In the Quiz Competition, the first position was secured by Stuti Mahajan of GCW Gandhi Nagar while the second position was shared by Ishtha Singh of Jammu University and Manik Kumar of GCET Jammu and third by Zaheen Shokat of GCW Gandhi Nagar. E-Certificates were awarded to the winners.
Weeklong programme organized by Government Degree College Ramkote to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti concluded. The programme includes intra college poster making competition, wherein Seema Devi of GDC Ramkote, Pallvi Sharma of GDC Ramkote and Poonam Sharma of BMS Institute of Parademical Science secured first, second and third positions respectively. In intra college poster making competition, Nazia Akhtar of GDC Ramkote, Meenakshi Sharma of GDC Ramkote and Kanchan Devi bagged first, second and third positions respectively. Dr Ashu Vashisht, Principal of the college addressed the students.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Solid Resource Centre Agar Jitto was handed over to the Gram panchayat. An effort was made to make people understand the increase in value of waste the moment it is segregated. Indian Pollution Control Agency agreed to collect solid waste from a SHG of local unemployed youth/women of the panchayat which are being registered as a Cooperative society so that the project is handed over to public. HH survey completed for quantum of waste and cost analysis. SRM will run under overall supervision of the Gram panchayat but run on daily basis by the unemployed youth/ women of the area. It will work especially in and around the neighbourhood of temples like Nau Deviyan, Baba Jitto temple and Baba Dhanser temple and their market areas.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Secretary, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, administered a ‘Swacchata’ pledge to officers and officials of the department at Civil Secretariat, Jammu.
All the employees of the department participated in the oath taking ceremony and pledged to keep the country neat and clean, remain committed towards cleanliness, devote at least 2 hours every week for cleaning activity, and to inculcate the habit of cleanliness among children and family members. The pledge was administered in English, Urdu and Hindi languages.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary exhorted the employees to fulfil Gandhiji’s vision and dream of Clean and Swachh Bharat. “Cleanliness is a befitting homage to Gandhiji on his birth anniversary who dreamt of clean India. He even remarked that sanitation is more important than political independence,” said Nanda.
She further added that cleanliness has a direct bearing on us, our health and families. “The WHO report states that we can save as many as 3 lac lives every year just by keeping our surroundings clean as various diseases such as malaria, diarrhea, etc are caused to the poor hygienic conditions.”
Nanda also said, “It is our responsibility to keep our surroundings clean. Therefore, we all must come together and participate actively to make India neat and clean for our own healthy and hygienic future.”
Pertinent to mention, a host of other programmes and activities including street plays, essay and painting competitions, cleanliness drives are conducted every year on October, 2 to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti.

This was stated by the Director-General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh after the pledge taking ceremony held at Police Headquarters to celebrate the Gandhi Jayanti. ADGP Headquarters (PHQ), A.G Mir administered Swachhta oath to the police officers and personnel to mark the launch of cleanliness drive by J&K Police. The oath taking ceremony was attended by DGP Dilbag Singh, ADGP CID, J&K, RR Swain, ADGP, Armed J&K, AK Choudhary, IGP Crime MK Sinha, SSP Crime, SSP Srinagar, AIGs of Police, PHQ, Commandants and other senior officers of different wings of Jammu and Kashmir Police. After the oath-taking ceremony, DGP launched the cleanliness drive in which senior officers participated. Meanwhile, cleanliness drives under Swachh Bharat Mission were carried out at all district headquarters, units, and wing headquarters across Jammu and Kashmir in which Police officers and jawans participated.
On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, “Swachhta Pledge” ceremony was organized at different locations in district Udhampur. At DPL Udhampur, Swachhta Pledge ceremony was celebrated under the supervision of Sargun Shukla, SSP Udhampur, while DySP DAR DPL Udhampur and other officers and officials were also present on the occasion. Similar programmes were also held at Sub-Divison Ramnagar, Chenani, and at different police stations and police posts like Latti, Pancheri, Chenani, Majalta, Basantgarh, etc.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated by Registrar of Companies, J&K and Ladakh at its both offices in Jammu and Srinagar. On the occasion, Gandhian ideals were discussed. Officiating ROC, Haamid Bukhari highlighted the importance of Gandhian values and ethics. On the occasion, RoC Official Raj Kumar Koul presented a special message on Swachhta and laid emphasis on imbibing it as a long lasting habit for in every aspect of life- starting from Swachhta of thought to Swachhta of workplaces and homes.
To mark Gandhi Jayanti celebrations Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ) Jammu organized Swachhta pledge ceremony to start Swachhta Parkhwada under the supervision of Mukesh Singh, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone at ZPHQ wherein Ashok Kumar, SSP Staff Officer and other officers and officials took the pledge to fulfill the dream of Mahatam Gandhi to serve the motherland by keeping the country neat and clean. The cops took oath to devote 100 hours per year voluntarily for cleanliness and propagate the message of Swachh Bharat Mission in villages and towns.
Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Swachhta pledge taking ceremony was organized amidst maintaining social distancing. Faisal Qureshi, SSP, Assistant Director (Admn) SKPA Udhampur took the Swachhta Pledge along with senior officers, other staff members and trainee officers. On this occasion all senior officers, staff members and trainee officers conducted cleanliness drive in and around the Academy premises.
Swatchta pledge was organized to mark 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Bhadarwah and Thathri by SP Bhadarwah, Raj Singh Gouria in the premises of Police Station Bhadarwah wherein jawans and officers participated. This was followed by cleanliness led by SDPO Bhadarwah, Abdul Gafoor and SHO, Suresh Gautam.
Swacchhta Pledge was administrated to the officers and officials of Directorate of Agriculture Jammu on the occasion of 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, Jammu. Joint Director Agriculture SLUB, Joint Director of Agriculture (Inputs), Agriculture Economist and Agronomist Vegetables were present on the occasion besides other senior officers of the Department.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) celebrated birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Talwara village wherein a programme was organized under the guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Dr. SK Gupta. Head of KVK Reasi, Dr Banarsi Lal, Manohar Lal and many others were present on the occasion.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch of SKUAST-J organized a programme at village Seri Khawaja in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Poonch to celebrate the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. During the programme, Dr Ajay Gupta, Senior Scientist and Dr Muzaafar Mir SMS, Fruit Science spoke on the occasion. Vishal Soodan, Agriculture Extension Officer from Department of Agriculture highlighted various schemes of the Department on this occasion.
A pledge ceremony of Swachhta Abhyan was held at Directorate of Horticulture Complex, Talab Tillo Jammu on the occasion of Gandhi Jyanti under the chairmanship of Ram Savak, Director Horticulture Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, the Director impressed upon all the participants to make the habit of cleanliness in and around the vicinity. This was followed by cleanliness drive in the Museum and Horticulture complex.
Jammu Airport celebrated Gandhi Jayanti wherein quotes and pictures of Mahatma Gandhi were displayed in flight information display system and Digital TVs placed in Terminal Building. Instrumental versions of Gandjhi’s devotional songs were also played in public address system and ‘Swatchata and Plantation’ drive was also carried out by airport employees. Speaking on the occasion Dr. P.R Beuria, Airport Director, emphasized upon clean and green environment for a better tomorrow.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at Dulhasti Power Station with great enthusiasm. On this occasion, Nirmal Singh, General Manager (In-charge), Dulhasti Power Station paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. Thereafter, Suresh Kumar, General Manager (Electrical) and all senior officials also paid floral tributes to Father of the Nation. Tributes were also paid to former Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Swachhta Abhiyan was also organized by Central Industrial Security Force unit of Dulhasti Power Station, in which Nirmal Singh, General Manager (In-charge) and Rahul Kumar, Commandant, CISF along with officers and staff undertook cleanliness drive in the office and residential premises and its surroundings.
Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, Srinagar celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and organized ‘Swachhta Day’. Director SKIMS & EOSG, Dr A.G Ahangar inaugurated the function. Dean Medical faculty SKIMS, HOD Hospital Administration and Incharge Sanitation and Chief Engineer SKIMS also spoke on the occasion.
Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) celebrated birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Mayor JMC, Chander Mohan Gupta took ‘Swachhta pledge’ in the presence of Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma, Chairperson Swachh Bharat, Suraj Parkash, Chairperson of Public Health Sanitation, Baldev Singh Billawaria and officers and officials of JMC. On this occasion, the Mayor also remembered Lal Bahadur Shastri.
