Rich tributes paid to Dr Ambedkar on his 56th death anniversary

JAMMU, Dec 6: Like the other parts of the country rich tributes were paid to Baba Sahib Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution on his 56th death anniversary here today.
In this connection functions were organised by various organizations to remember this great leader of the country.
To remember the late leader Bahujan Samaj Party  (BSP) organised a function at party office Narwal Pain near here today. The function was chaired by  State president of the party, Tulsi Dass Langeh.
The function started with garlanding of the portrait of Baba Sahib by BSP leadership and activists. On the occasion BSP leaders threw light on the life and mission of Baba Sahib right from his childhood and his 40 year long struggle since 1916 to 1956 for the rights of oppressed and suppressed people of the country.
The BSP leaders said that while drafting the Constitution of India Baba Sahib granted right to every section of the society and became the first Law Minister of the country. They said later Kanshi Ram took the onus to take the mission launched by Baba Sahib forward from 1965 to 2006.
They said the BSP led by former Chief Minister of UP Mayawati is committed to take his mission to logical conclusion.
The BSP leaders who paid tributes to Baba Ambedkar included R L Chargotra, A K Manawa, Rakesh Wazir, Ajab Singh Moton, Som Nath ex MLA, Charan Dass, S Raja Singh, Badri Nath and others.
In connection with observance of 57th death anniversary of Dr Ambedkar a meeting was organized by All India Angurana Baradari Development Committee at Bishnah near here today.
On the occasion rich tributes were paid to Dr Ambedkar by president of the Baradari Kuldeep Kumar, its chairman G C Dogra, general secretary Som Dutt and vice president Subash Chander and others.
The SC/ST Employees Association of Jammu University also paid rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar on his 56th death anniversary. The Association on the occasion made an appeal to Vice Chancellor to set up a chair on the name of Dr Ambedkar in the University. The speakers also garlanded the portrait of late leader.
Remembering Dr Ambedkar Association president R L Kaith said Dr Ambedkar was a literary genius and an eminent educationist, a dynamic personality, an able Parliamentarian and the illustrious architect of the Indian Constitution. He worked hard for the upliftment of the downtrodden people throughout his life, he added.
Terming Dr Ambedkar a great social reformer Mr Kaith said he championed the cause of depressed classes of India.
All India Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Railway Employees Association, Branch Jammu Tawi, organised a programme to pay homage to Dr Ambedkar, on his death anniversary, today.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was RN Mina, Traffic Manager, Jammu Tawi, who along with other dignitaries, paid floral tribute to Dr Ambedkar.
In his address, he briefed in length the work done by the Ambedkar for the welfare of downtrodden classes, minorities and people living below poverty line.
Punjabi Sufi Singer, Dev Dildar, paid tributes to the great leader through his melodious voice.
Other who paid tributes to the great leader were Ashok Bhagat, Sewa Raman, Harbans Angral, Jasbir Singh, Kamaljeet, DS Lati, Amarjeet, Rajkumar and Pardeep Kumar.
