BHADERWAH, June 7: Glowing tributes were paid to Amar Shaheed Ruchir Kumar and other martyrs of erstwhile district Doda on Shaheedi Divas here, today. On the occasion a grand function was organized to recall their sacrifices for the national cause.
The prominent leaders and citizens who attended the function garlanded their statues and observed two minutes silence as mark of respect to them.
They said these martyrs sacrificed their lives for unity and integrity of India when militancy was at peak in district Doda and it was with their supreme sacrifices that the Doda district was saved to turn into another Kashmir and force the migration of minorities from this hilly belt.
The celebration started with “Dhawaj Aarohan” at Badidan Sathal of Ruchir Kumar at Vasakdera, Bhaderwah in the morning which was followed by Hawan at Balidan Smarak, Bhaderwah. Among the prominent persons who spoke on the occasion included Ashok Kotwal, Arun Kumar, Prof. Kameshwar Razdan, Manjeet Razdan, Shekar Kotwal, etc.
