JAMMU, June 25: Stressing on the challenges being faced by salaried class of the country due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, President of National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri and other NMC activists urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to revoke its order of freezing DA payable to Centre, State and UT Government employees and pensioners.
Interacting with media persons here, Shastri pointed out that Central, State and UT employees are in the forefront of battle against COVID-19 pandemic and by risking their safety and life they are doing extra ordinary service for the nation.
He said that dearness relief is not wage increase it is just compensation against the erosion of real wages and the cost of living and inflation and this is the only source with them to cater the dearness needs. He further said that freezing of DA will severely impact life and living of the salaried class and pensioners and demanded an early revoking of DA freezing order.
He also urged the LG to ensure timely disbursement of pending wages for years together and hope that UT Jammu and Kashmir Government will also earmark separate wage heads for regularly disbursement of monthly salary till their regularization.
Shastri further demanded setting up off labour welfare Board, enhancing the minimum wages of daily rated workers to Rs 18000 per month besides their regularization under SRO 64.
Rajan Babu Khajuria, BS Jamwal, Surinder Kumar, Ramesh Sharma, Tarsem Sharma, Gardhari lal Bhagat, Darshan Bawa, Gara Ram, JP Sharma and Suraj Parkash were present on the occasion.
